What is our "Hail Mary" party plan? It's a procrastinator's (short) guide to last minute party planning. You don't have time to waste, so we'll cut right to the chase...
Prioritize
You won't be able to do it all, but that doesn't mean you can't do it big. Focus on the important things like the main course, and don't sweat the small stuff.POTLUCK
Encourage friends to bring their favorite game day treat. This takes some of the pressure off the host (you) and allows guests to flaunt their culinary abilities.
PURCHASE
Don't be afraid of ready-made appetizers or store bought cookie trays. They cut down on prep time, both before and during the game. They're often more cost effective than buying the individual ingredients anyway.
DELEGATE
This corresponds to tip #2. Assign certain courses to each guest (for example, have 5 people make appetizers, 5 bring dessert) or at least ask what everyone plans to bring to avoid duplicates. Once you know what dishes are covered, you can “fill in the blanks” as needed.
DECREASE
Keep the gathering small and personal. Since it's last minute, loose acquaintances probably already have plans, and won't be offended if they don't make the guest list.
DISCOUNT
Shop at discount stores for disposable plates and napkins in your team's colors. It's an easy, inexpensive way to show spirit and make the post-party cleanup easier.
Now that you've got your game plan, it's time to get to work! Kickoff is quickly approaching, and you've got what it takes to plan a winning party.
