Chicken & Waffles Recipe

Learn how to make chicken and waffles perfect for any meal!
SERVES 2-4 | PREP 2 hours 15 minutes | COOK 15 min |
INGREDIENTS
- ⅔ Gallon Peanut Oil
- Homemade Fried Chicken:
- 7 Chicken Tenders
- The Batter:
- 2 Cups Buttermilk
- 1 tsp. Kosher Salt
- 1 tsp. Black Pepper
- ½ tsp. Cayenne Pepper
- The Dredge:
- 2 Cups Flour
- ½ tbsp. Black Pepper
- 2 tbsp. Paprika
- ½ tbsp. Dried Basil
- ½ tbsp. Dried Thyme
- 1 ½ tbsp. Garlic Powder
- 1 ½ tbsp. Cayenne Pepper
- 1 tbsp. Baking Powder
- For the Sandwich:
- 14 Mini Waffles
- 7 pieces Fried Bacon
- Maple Syrup To Taste
- Drink Pairing:
- Ruffino Rose
- Things You'll Need:
- Cast Iron Skillet
DIRECTIONS
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together buttermilk, salt, black pepper & cayenne
- Place chicken tenders into mixture, cover & chill in fridge for 2 hours
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour & dry spices for coating the chicken
- Fry bacon & toast mini waffles. Set aside for building sandwiches
- In a large cast iron pan, preheat peanut oil to 325°F
- Remove chicken tenders from buttermilk, dredge in flour mixture
- Fry chicken for 5-7 minutes. They will start to float in the oil & look golden brown when ready
- Remove chicken from oil, place on paper towel to remove excess grease
- Assemble sandwiches with mini waffles, a piece of fried chicken & bacon
- Drizzle maple syrup over chicken & waffles
- Optionally pair this sweet & savory snack with a glass of Ruffino Rosé
