The experts at Poteracke Landscapes in Sonoma, California helped the Kimball Family create a space where they could entertain a crowd or quietly unwind. The finished design includes stainless steel outdoor kitchen appliances built into a BBQ island lined with beautiful red cedar.
The new outdoor space features a Blaze Professional 34-Inch 3-Burner Built-In Gas Grill, a Blaze 32-Inch Access Door & Double Drawer Combo, and a Blaze 18-Inch Right Hinged Single Access Door. Extra counter space, made of black limestone, was added to have room for food and drinks when the Kimballs are entertaining. To top off their new look, step lights under the backsplash and countertop were installed to add accent lighting for nighttime entertaining.
Before construction began, the contractors ordered in the products to ensure the items would fit. The island was built with CMU block build and filled with rebar and concrete. The lintels were framed and rebarred through the cells and poured with 5000 PSI concrete instead of using steel or wood. All edges were sealed with adhesive flashing to prevent water from being absorbed into the 3/4" plywood backing for the fascia. The plywood was glued and screwed with 1 3/4" tapcon screws to the cinderblock, then the clear red cedar was glued and stapled to the plywood. (*BBQGuys recommends using an insulated jacket when a grill comes in contact with any combustible surface.)
