BBQGuys’® Annual Giving Tuesday Angel Tree Provides Holiday Gifts for Local Youth in Foster Care
At the heart of our 2021 corporate social responsibility strategy is the belief that everyone deserves food, shelter, and a sense of belonging. Those core ideas are magnified during the holiday season, making it more important than ever to ensure the most vulnerable in our communities feel the welcoming warmth everyone should experience. That’s why we partnered with Capital Area CASA for our annual Giving Tuesday Angel Tree project, a company-wide effort that gifted holiday presents to 32 teens (and their younger siblings) living in the Baton Rouge, Louisiana, foster care system.
We launched the project on Giving Tuesday in coordination with CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) volunteers, who compiled wish lists for individual teens and children in their program. BBQGuys employees then shopped for each youth participating in the Angel Tree project, granting holiday wishes with an array of gifts including headphones, hats, shoes and skates, stuffed animals and dolls, instruments, and gift cards. In addition to their requested presents, every teen and child received a stocking stuffed with essentials like toothbrushes and school supplies, along with treats such as candy and puzzles. We’re grateful for the opportunity to work with the amazing people at Capital Area CASA to help local youth feel that important sense of belonging during the holidays.
As a national organization, CASA champions court-appointed volunteer advocacy so children who have experienced abuse or neglect can thrive in a safe, loving home. To support the organization during this potentially traumatic time for children and throughout the year, visit CASA’s website and look for donation or volunteer opportunities.
