How to Use a Charcoal Chimney
A charcoal chimney is essentially a metal cylinder that contains a grate and is lined with ventilation holes for quick and easy lighting. Just place the chimney on a non-combustible surface such as your grill grates, pour unlit lump charcoal onto the grate without overfilling the cylinder, and stick a few lighter cubes or sheets of crumpled newspaper under the grate below the chimney. From there, all you have to do is light the newspaper or cubes with a match or lighter and watch the flames work their way up the chimney. Once the top-most coals are glowing, use the chimney handles to pour them all onto the unlit coals inside your grill. Be sure to always wear high-heat gloves when using a charcoal chimney because it will become extremely hot, and allow it to completely cool on a non-combustible surface away from children or pets before storing.
